The Wicklow Uplands supports a network of thriving towns and villages and is home to some c. 33,000 inhabitants

A strong sense of community is evident throughout the uplands and this is possibly its greatest asset.

The Uplands Council represents an ideal forum for communities to share ideas and strategies to ensure our Wicklow towns and villages can grow together in a sustainable way – John Mullen, Tinahely Community Projects

WUC acts as a ‘ginger group’ raising issues pertinent to life in the uplands. By finding consensus within the Council board, these issues with possible common sense solutions can be brought to the attention of public representatives for action. Good examples of this are winter weather action planning and project PURE – Claire Chambers, Roundwood Community Council

By presenting our views as one we create a stronger voice for the uplands. This gives us greater recognition from the statutory decision makers – John Medlycott, Individual Member
