WUC Seeking Applications for the Position of Deer Management Project Co-ordinator (Part Time)

Following the recent signing of a state contract for the provision of Deer Management Services, which seeks to address the unsustainable deer population found in the region, Wicklow Uplands Council is delighted to announce the recruitment of a Deer Management Project Co-ordinator.

Wicklow Uplands Council, with the participation of the Wicklow Deer Management Partnership, invites applications for the role of a part time Project Co-ordinator who will be responsible for the implementation of a new three year Deer Management project in Co Wicklow.  

 

Role Description:

The project will entail establishing baseline data on deer damage levels, data collection & management, establishing Deer Management Units (DMUs) and deer management plans, providing advice and technical support to relevant stakeholders, supporting knowledge transfer and training and deer welfare safeguards. 

 

 

It is envisaged that the project will require the equivalent of 2.5days engagement per week. The successful contractor will be positioned remotely, providing their own office facilities. The role will involve regular correspondence with a WUC/WDMP steering group and will involve some work outside normal office hours.  

Candidates should have experience in project management, possess excellent communication skills and have experience working with multi-stakeholder groups. Familiarity of the Wicklow Uplands and species management is desirable.
