New Bus Service For The Wicklow Uplands

New Bus Service For The Wicklow Uplands

Today marks the commencement of a new bus service which connects some of the villages and visitor attractions found in the Wicklow uplands to Wicklow Town.

The new Local Link service follows the route of Wicklow Town – Rathnew – Ashford – Roundwood – Annamoe – Laragh – Glendalough Visitor Centre.

The #183 scheduled service will operate 4 daily services from Sunday to Thursday and 6 on Fridays and Saturdays. The timetable also facilitates public transport links such as the train station in Wicklow Town and bus services offered by Bus Eireann and Wexford Bus.

As County Wicklow’s visitor numbers continue to increase, this service offers a much needed alternative transport option to the 6th century monastic settlement of Glendalough and to the Wicklow Mountains National Park.

The route also connects the growing number of walking trails found the region including the Vartry Reservoir Trails, Avonmore Way, St. Kevin’s way and The Wicklow Way.
