SUMMARY:Evening Litter Pick of the Wicklow Gap
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nWicklow Uplands Council is organising a two hour litter pick along a stretch of the Wicklow Gap on the evening of Tuesday 24th April in conjunction with An Taisce National Spring Clean. \nAll volunteers are welcome and should meet at 18.30 at the Glendasan Mine site at the top of the Glendasan Valley on the Wicklow Gap. \nWe would suggest that volunteers dress appropriately for the weather and if possible to also bring a pair of gloves.\nAll bags and litter pickers will be provided.\nRefreshments will be provided afterwards in the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh. \nFor further details please contact Brian Dunne at bdunne@wicklowuplands.ie.

DESCRIPTION:‘SHAPING THE FUTURE OF THE WICKLOW UPLANDS’ \n– Panel Meeting 29th of March – \nWicklow Uplands Council takes a community led approach to sustainable development in the Wicklow Uplands in partnership with the people who live\, work and recreate there. \nWould you like to take part in the discussion? \nHosted by Wicklow Uplands Council\, this event is a joint meeting of its panel groups to provide an opportunity for networking and discussion amongst the tourism\, community\, recreation and farming sectors. \nThe evening will also feature a presentation on project updates from the Wicklow Uplands Council (including SUAS) and a presentation on the Tinahely Trails from John Mullen.\n\nEach of the 4 panel groups (listed below) will break into individual meetings to discuss relevant issues\, activities and initiatives and seek input and feedback from the panel representatives. \nCommunity Panel \nEconomic and Tourism Panel \nEnvironment and Recreation Panel \nFarming and Landowning Panel \nThe key objectives of the meeting are: \n– To provide an opportunity for networking and discussion amongst the tourism\, community\, recreation and farming sectors. \n-To identify opportunities to strengthen each of these sectors. \n– To discuss ‘live’ issues within the panels and look at ways in which Wicklow Uplands Council can assist member organisations and individuals. \nIf you are interested in coming along please RSVP to info@wicklowuplands.ie or ph: 01 2818406. \nNew members are always welcome and you can sign up on the night. \nCommunity Participation: \nThe Uplands Council believes that the people who live\, work and recreate in the Uplands must be provided with opportunities to participate in the various local\, regional and national decision making processes affecting the area. DESCRIPTION:On September 14th\, Laragh Tidy Towns is hosting an evening with Pádraic Fogarty of the Irish Wildlife Trust. Pádraic will talk about his landmark book Whittled Away. The book charts the grim decline of nature in the Irish landscape\, but it also reveals possibilities for the future\, showing a path to recovery for nature and wildlife. In particular\, Pádraic will discuss how we can better manage our uplands – a topic relevant to the area. The talk\, followed by discussion\, will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre\, Laragh\, Co. Wicklow. September 14th\, 7.30 – 9pm. Free admission\, all are welcome to attend.
